EXCELLENT Based on 72 reviews lauri y2024-12-23Verified The cure for jet lag We booked a bike tour with Bike2Kili to fill a free day before our Kilimanjaro climb, and it was an incredible experience. Our guide, Said Jama, was professional, patient, and handled several flat tires along the way with impressive efficiency. The tour began in Moshi and quickly transitioned from paved roads to rough dirt paths winding through rural neighborhoods, sugarcane, and rice fields. We appreciated the unique opportunity to explore the Tanzanian countryside up close. A neck buff is highly suggested as the roads can get dusty. One highlight was riding thru the Rau Conservation Forest, where the cool forest canopy provided a refreshing break. We spotted plenty of Blue monkeys and families of Colobus monkeys—a true treat for nature lovers. The tour concluded with a tasty local lunch at Shukran Cafe. Altogether, the experience lasted about five hours and was the perfect way to shake off jet lag while immersing ourselves in the local scenery and culture. We highly recommend Bike2Kili for anyone visiting Moshi! Susanne2024-12-21Verified Good Way to Explore Moshi The 1-day Moshi Villages Bike Tour was a nice way to see the area. The route included some scenic views and a chance to visit local villages. The guide was helpful, and the lunch provided was very good.Overall, a good experience if you’re looking for something active to do in Moshi. All the people involved were really nice and considered. All the logging locations are also great! Upon arrival to Lake Natron my wife got really sick with an rare auto immune disease (who would have thought), the whole Bike2kili team was really helpful bringing us to the hospital and staying behind and helping us with the logistics of navigating the city. When we got plane tickets to leave the country much later than our last day of our tour they helped us get to the airport on time without any fuss. Truly don’t know how all that craziness would have went down without their help! elainejoughin2024-11-17Verified Great trip through the countryside This was a super trip! We saw rice fields, sugar cane, birds, monkeys, a 200 year old tree, the train station, multiple villages, and the busy Moshi market. The tour guide was fun to be with and was full of information. He is a bike mechanic so the bike was in perfect working order. Helmet was provided. Expect to cycle on gravel roads and paths. The finishing touch was lunch at a local restaurant serving African food. I would highly recommend this trip! Kris A2024-10-05Verified Very good and professional bike touroperator/ rental! After living in Tanzania for several months, having a lot of mountainbiking experience, and learning a bit of Swahili, we decided to rent some mountainbikes and do the 360 Kilimanjaro tour on our own. We asked some locals in Moshi for a good bike rental, and they brought us to Bike2Kili, a fully locally-owned company. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the mountain bikes and the services provided. I rode a 29-inch mountain bike of the same quality I use in races back in Europe. The rental included a good Lazer helmet and a repair kit. The owner and staff spoke good English and gave us some helpful tips for the 360 route. We had a wonderful four-day ride and were very happy with the services of Bike2Kili. Being a local company, they also offer great prices. I would highly recommend them to fellow mountainbikers looking to ride around Kilimanjaro! Best for those with experience on mountain bikes because of road condition and single tract through the forest. Great way to get to know the area and see what life is like n rural Tanzania. Check bike condition before you start from the shop - brakes, gears, seat. We found a problem with one of our bikes but it was quickly changed out for another bike. That is Africa! Rolf G2024-09-23Verified Great adventure on two wheels Bike2kili’s multi day cycling trip from Lake Chala to Lake Natron was really amazing. We did around 60km per day through beautiful and varied landscapes. The road surface was at times quite challenging with many bumps and stones but the bikes could handle it all. We were rewarded with amazing views and spotted lots of animals like giraffes, zebras, dikdiks, ostriches and many more. The lodges were sometimes good, sometimes amazing. The guide and support van with driver and chef were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend for people looking to experience the richness Tanzania has to offer on a more slowly and connected fashion! PaddyP08152024-08-20Verified 3+1 day cycling tour of rural Tanzania My friend and I did a 3 day cycle to Tinga Tinga Maasai village, then rural areas to the Cheka Hotsprings and then to Moshi. We enjoyed the 3 days so much we added a day going up to the Materuni Waterfall and visiting a Chagga family for lunch and traditional coffee making. The entire experience from initial inquiries to booking to tour execution and extension was excellent. Said Juma is running a smooth operation. Our guide George for the first 3 days was friendly and knowledgeable on the different areas. The first night we stayed at the Maasai village overnight and spent the afternoon learning about Maasai culture, touring the working villages, being shown the traditional medicine plants and visiting with the 109 year old elder. The traditional hut we stayed in was comfortable and the washroom huts were wester style with a great outdoor shower. Our second day started on grass lands and more wild areas where we saw zebra, giraffes, gazelle, wildebeest and wild birds. The trail was rough and rocky. We did a few extra kms on the tarmac roads as we were feeling good. Our accommodation was at House of West Kili in Lawate and was a beautiful lodge..The third day took us to a very rural route with many farms. It was fascinating to see how much agriculture was happening. It was Sunday so we stopped at a church to see the start of the services before excusing ourselves to continue on. We also spent some time swimming in the Cheka hot spring (not really hot). Then proceeded to Moshi and cutting through the large sugar cane plantations which was very scenic. We finished the day in Moshi and stayed at the Walk With Us Africa Hotel which was very comfortable and had the best food on the entire trip. The fourth “added” day was guided by Said. We went 14km with an elevation gain of 630m to get to Materuni. I am glad we did hill training before the trip or we would not have been able to get up the hills. The waterfall is spectacular and we felt privileged to do a tour at a Chagga home and farm, meeting the entire family and seeing how they make the coffee as well as other parts of their farm. It was a great choice by Said. The ride down was so much easier than up (3hours up, I hour down).I feel like I got to see a great mix of cultural activities and the real Tanzania. All accommodations and days were unique and a pleasure to experience. The selections by Said based on what we were looking for were bang on. Anyone looking to explore Tanzania in a unique and more personal way should contact Bike2Kili for a once in a lifetime experience. Saivendra K2024-08-07Verified A Unique Experience of Masai Culture and Wildlife I had an amazing time with Bike2Kili on their gravel bike ride through Masai villages in west Kilimanjaro foothills. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I learned so much about the Masai people and their culture, and I got to see a lot of wildlife on the way. I saw hundreds of zebras, giraffes, gazelles, birds, and other animals in their natural habitat. The ride was incredibly beautiful and scenic, with views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru along the way which was mostly behind clouds. George, the guide, was excellent and knowledgeable. He customized the ride to suit my preferences and showed me some of the highlights of the area, such as the Tinga Tinga village and the wildlife corridor between Arusha and Amboseli. Rashid, the driver, was also very professional and attentive. He followed me with a support vehicle and took care of any needs I had. Never felt afraid riding in the wilderness. I had a wonderful ride and I highly recommend this tour and the company. The only minor issue was that they were late in picking me up by about 1.5 hours, which could have been communicated better. However, this did not affect the overall quality of the experience. If you love biking and exploring new places, you should definitely try this tour with Bike2Kili. It will be a memorable and rewarding adventure that you will never forget. A word of caution, the ride is all off road and lot of gravel riding in the open. So, prepare accordingly.
