Explore Tanzania by E-Bike

Ride farther. Climb easier. Experience more.

A Little Extra Assistance When You Need It

Welcome to a different way of experiencing Tanzania on two wheel. With e-bikes, you still pedal, you still ride, you still feel the road beneath you. However, when the road rises or the distance gets longer, the electric motor gives you additional support.

It is still a bike adventure. But an e-bike tour has comes with more freedom.

Why Ride an E-Bike

Here are our top 5 reasons why you need an e-bike

You don't have to be a hardcore Cyclist

You don’t need years of cycling experience to enjoy Tanzania by bike. Our pedal-assisted e-bikes are particularly useful for travellers who want an active experience but may not be comfortable with the physical demands of a conventional mountain bike.

Get extra assistance on climbs and longer stretches, allowing you to focus more on the scenery and experience.

With a range of approximately 60–80 km per charge, depending on pedal-assist level, terrain and rider load, you can explore routes that might otherwise feel beyond your comfortable cycling distance.

Travelling with someone who has a different fitness level? One person can ride an e-bike while another rides a conventional mountain bike on suitable routes. You may have different bike, but share the same adventure.

An e-bike doesn’t ride for you. You still pedal, steer, brake and make the decisions. The motor simply gives you assistance when you need it.

Meet Our eBee eBX

For our e-bike experiences, we use the eBee eBX, an electric mountain-bike-style bicycle designed for everyday riding and light adventure. Here are its main features:

36V 350W Rear Hub Motor

The rear-mounted motor provides pedal assistance when you need an extra push, particularly on climbs and longer rides.

The removable battery makes charging and battery management more convenient during your cycling adventure.

The expected range varies according to terrain, rider weight, assistance level, riding style, weather and other conditions.

Seven gears allow you to adapt your pedalling to changing terrain while the motor provides additional assistance.

The coil-sprung suspension fork helps absorb bumps and uneven sections of the trail.

The 27.5″ × 2.10″ tyres provide a balance between stability, comfort and manoeuvrability on varied surfaces.

Reliable mechanical braking helps you maintain control across changing terrain.

What Does an E-Bike Tour Feel Like?

Imagine leaving Moshi in the morning.

The traffic gradually disappears. The road becomes quieter.

You pass homes, farms and small villages. Kilimanjaro rises somewhere beyond the landscape. You pedal along dirt roads, stop for photographs, talk with your guide and take in the surroundings.

Then comes a climb. Instead of struggling to keep up, you select the appropriate assistance level and keep pedalling. You reach the top.

The view opens up. And you realise the e-bike hasn’t taken the adventure away.

It has helped you stay in it.

Who are the E-Bikes For

E-Biking Is Not Just for Experienced Cyclists

Our e-bike tours can be a great option for:

Couples with different fitness levels

Enjoy the same cycling experience without having to ride at exactly the same physical level.

Active travellers who don’t regularly cycle

If you enjoy walking, hiking and outdoor adventures but aren’t a regular cyclist, pedal assistance can make cycling around Kilimanjaro more approachable.

Experienced cyclists

Use the assistance strategically and save your legs for longer distances, climbs or several days of riding.

Older or less confident riders

E-bikes can provide additional support on appropriate routes, helping riders feel more comfortable tackling hills and longer distances.

Travellers who want to explore more

Sometimes you don’t want the cycling itself to be the entire challenge.

MTB vs E-Bike

You don’t have to choose the “harder” bike to have the better experience.
It depends on what you want from your day.

E-Bike Tours FAQs

Do I need previous cycling experience?

You don’t need to be an experienced mountain biker for every e-bike tour. However, you should be comfortable riding and controlling a bicycle. Each route has its own difficulty level, and some require more cycling experience than others.

Yes. Our e-bikes are pedal-assisted bicycles. The motor provides assistance while you pedal; it doesn’t replace pedalling.

The eBee eBX has a stated top assisted speed of approximately 30–32 km/h, depending on the bike specification and operating conditions. Actual speed will depend on terrain, rider ability, road conditions and applicable operating restrictions.

The eBee eBX is rated at approximately 60–80 km per charge, but actual range varies considerably depending on terrain, rider load, assistance level, weather and riding conditions.

Yes, on suitable routes. The pedal assistance can reduce the physical effort required, particularly on climbs. However, you still need enough cycling ability to safely control the bicycle.

Yes, on selected routes. We can accommodate mixed groups where some riders use conventional mountain bikes and others use e-bikes, subject to route suitability and group ability.

No. E-bikes are only available on routes that Bike2Kili considers suitable based on terrain, distance, battery requirements, safety, environmental considerations and any applicable regulations.

Our guides monitor the ride and battery requirements. Depending on the route and circumstances, you may continue riding without motor assistance, use a spare battery where available, recharge, or receive assistance from the support team.

We’ll do our best to repair or replace the bike where reasonably possible. Depending on the circumstances, we may modify the route or provide a conventional mountain bike.

This depends on the rider’s age, height, ability, the specific bicycle and the route. Please contact us before booking an e-bike for a child.
